Statement by Adisa Maina Omar (Adisaji) on the
Passing of Walter L. Cronkite, Jr.

I never had the distinct pleasure or honor of meeting this beloved patriarch for millions in America and around the world. This
seasoned and disciplined reporter, journalist, news anchor, commentator & pundit was in some ways a trusted "father" in my own
life as it was for millions. From the time I was just eight years old and watched his announcement of the assassination of
President
John F. Kennedy
to the Apollo 11 landing on the moon in 1969 I will never forget the sense of trust we all had in him even at a time
in history when "trusting whites" was not widely upheld in the largely African-American community I grew up in during the 1960s &
70s. I'll also never forget feverishly waiting each Sunday night for the oft-forgotten CBS News show about the "future" that Walter
hosted called "The 21st Century". It made us all excited about what the world would be like in the 21st Century. Ironically, Walter left
us just nine years into that new century and what he visioned on the show was often a lot different than the world we share today.

I will forever cherish that warm-hearted smile & voice that always seemed to resign us to the enivable with the classic phrase "So
that's the Way It Was ... this is Walter Cronkite for the CBS News Goodnight". Goodnight Walter & God Bless, Adisaji

We have created this page because the main focus of Ikologiks Center for Global Studies is the celebration of "Life" or "Ankh Consciousness."
We inner-stand that those that depart from this plain of consciousness due to illness, accident or old age have not really departed.
The ancestors remain always with us in our hearts and minds, until the day comes when we join them in the transition.
These pages will celebrate the lives of those leaving us since 2005, and beyond, rather than throughout history.
