| MAY THE ANCESTORS & ANGELIC HOSTS EMBRACE OUR BELOVED SISTERS IN THE STRUGGLE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS & SOCIAL JUSTICE! "MAMA AFRICA" MIRIAM MAKEBA & "FOLK SINGER/CIVIL RIGHTS ICON -- ODETTA & ACTRESS, SINGER EARTHA KITT |
I had the unique pleasure of personally greeting Miriam Makeba when she made a Washington, DC appearance at the Kennedy Center in the early 1980s & scheduled a "Record Signing" at the Papyrus Record Emporium (a retail book & record shop I opened in 1981) organized for me by a old high school friend Erica Phillips. I also had the distinct pleasure of attending performances given by Odetta at Cornell University & other locations throughout the years of her brilliant songstress career. The gifts both sisters imparted to the world and to their native lands will forever be remembered. I therefore wanted to share with you a special song Miriam Makeba recorded entitled "A Piece of Ground" (my favorite) that referenced the painful struggle in the 20th Century to topple the apartheid regime of South Africa. Makeba lived long enough to return home & embrace Nelson Mendela. Equally, Odetta lived to see the election of the first African-American President Barack Obama. I know the visitors to our website share in the feelings of loss, but also know their SPIRITS LIVE ON -- A LUTA CONTINUA!

| We have created this page because the focus of IKOLOGIKS and the Ikologiks Center for Global Studies has for the celebration of "Life" or "Ankh Consciousness." We inner-stand that those that depart from this plain of consciousness due to illness, accident or old age have not really departed. The ancestors remain always with us in our hearts and minds, until the day comes when we join them in the transition. These pages will celebrate the lives of those leaving us since 2005, and beyond, rather than throughout history. |

| Website Visitors Comments on Deaths of Miriam Makeba, Eartha Kitt & Odetta -- Your Posts Here! |

Page" we learned of the tragic passing of yet another giant in the entertainment industry who has championed the cause of human rights & civil rights. The infamous small framed songtress, actress & diva known as Eartha Kitt passed with colon cancer. Ironically, one of her most popular recordings "Santa Baby" would make her an annual part of seasonal cheer and it was on Christmas she decided to join the ancestors and her fellow sisters Miriam Makeba & Odetta. Our prayers go out to her family, fans & loved ones. |
