Writing about, & reflecting upon the life & times of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
is a difficult task for me, because my practice & involvement with TM
(Transcendental Meditation) has always been a quite personal matter
for me. But, I find it is only proper and fitting for me to show the appropriate
respect & honor to the "guru" who perhaps more than anyone else gave
me the means to bring-forth Ikologiks and the "Nine Principles of Life.
Because, it was through the practice of TM that I entered into the
deep awakening that revealed the "Nine Principles of Life" to me in
1977.
In 1955, the exact same year I was born, His Holiness departed from
Uttarkashi at age 24, where he had been studying with spiritual "masters"
and for the first time began publicly teaching the Transcendental
Technique (TM). Two years later (1957), in Chennai (Madras), India he
began the "Spiritual Regeneration Movement," and one year later
(1958) began the first of his worldwide tours.
It was at age 24 (1979) that I began the first introduction of the
"Ecologics" (Ikologiks) training programs & "Nine Principles of Life" in
Atlanta, Georgia, USA. A coincidence? Perhaps, but I feel it was signaling
the connection I had to Guru Dev.
So when Maharishi made his maha-samadhi on February 5, 2008 at the
age of "90" (Nine) I felt a great need to speak out about it, but could not
find the words. Now, however, upon the advent of the "999" I feel the need
to share some reflections about Maharishi & how I came to practice
Transcendental Meditation in 1976 while attending Cornell University.

We inner-stand that those that depart from this plain of consciousness due to illness, accident or old age have not really departed. The ancestors remain always with us in our hearts and minds, until the day comes when we join them in the transition.
