| The nature of one's character can be easily defined or determined by the 'actions' we take or do not take along the path/journey to self-realization. In the word "character" we have "char" and "acter." The word char means to partially burn (as to blacken the surface of something). The term 'actus' comes from the Latin and means event, or thing done. Thus, when we burn (char) our ego we are able to shape our character in a positive and beneficial way. To do this, we must take actions or (acter) DO things that display our humbleness, devotion to God, service to humanity, or adherence to Dharma/MAAT on a daily basis. This is the true test of one's character development in earning the sacred title of hue-(wo)man being in this world of illusion/delusion! - Adisaji, Week of 7/24/05 - |
downs during the past sixteen years. Since the founding of the Academy in 1989, I have often reflected on why this is the case. I concluded that things are as they should/must be, so I just continue on with/without support. I know this "Dharma" may not attract millions, but it does touch those that are most sincere. Now as I turn "50," I have a general sense that much has been accomplished, however, there is still much more to be done in the days, months and years ahead. Today, we are clearly on the cusp of a world of new beginnings. The daily news reports attest to the great changes unfolding in technology, planetary evolution, and spiritual transformation on this little blue pearl we call the Earth. For several years (since my 13 birthday), I have rarely celebrated my birthday because it happens to coincide with the tragic assassination date of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968. I have a deep respect for this champion of non-violent social protest. However, as I pass into the next significant stage of my own life, I feel the need to shed the past, and like a caterpillar, emerge as a newly awakened butterfly. Perhaps, I could say many more words to you all, but I prefer instead to just ask you to say a simple prayer. Let us prayer, that the 'world we know now, be healed, cleansed, and transformed into the Effulgent Light of Divine Perfection. Let the WILL of the MOST HIGH Be Affirmed in these times of great change. So Be It!" With Great Respect and Great Love, Copyright 2005 Baba Ur Deon-Solek, All Rights Reserved. |

| In today's fast paced global economy fewer of us are finding ample time for quiet personal reflection, calm contemplation, deep meditation, or simple rest. In fact, our spiritual and religious culture increasingly seems annexed to the 'fast food' MTV generation mentality of wanting everything quick without much effort or thought. Perhaps, the "new age movement" sparked in the 1980s is partially responsible for this alarming trend being experienced in our daily spiritual lives or even the so called pop culture self-help 'gurus' like Steve Covey, Dr. Phil or Deepak Chopra. Whatever the causes might be, nevertheless, many spiritual seekers are sadly becoming mere "couch potatoes" or "arm chair practitioners" when it comes to spiritual disciplines or self-development. The spiritual path of self-realization is not attained solely by reading meditation books, buying the latest DVD/CD, joining a yoga class, or attending the next "inner growth seminar." These things are only accessories to a process that must be developed with sincerity, patience and virtue on a long- term basis. The process must be developed with the support of a spiritual teacher. Working independently or with teachers that deal with spirituality as a "business" is dangerous. It takes real dedication and discipline to reach the apex of spiritual development. Jumping from 'teacher to teacher' or 'teaching to teaching' like a monkey swinging on trees only breeds confusion and inner discontent. Instead, focus your mind one-pointedly on the path you have chosen and take the 'personal journey' it invokes to the limits. Stopping in the middle of a journey only brings defeat and demoralizes our psyche in reaching the final goal. Yes, there are always setbacks, sometimes a sense of betrayal with our teacher, fear and self-doubt. But, these are only the clouds of delusion that hinder our ultimate progress. Ignore these obstacles and steady your footing to climb the mountain on the path of self-realization. Starting today, get off the couch, put down the book, roll up the yoga mat and turn off the CD player! Now sit quietly and just MEDITATE in silence within, letting the thoughts, worries and fears escape you! Next, find a teacher and teaching that challenges you and does not pacify you!

| The movie the "Island" has become the pop culture buzz word this month as another Hollywood summer blockbuster entered the fray. It was on my mind a lot this week. I began to think about how we all seek some type of "island" paradise to escape the daily problems we face in life. In fact, some of us seek to go to 'heaven' as their escape from life or to reach an ideal utopia dream state. While still others, consider becoming even a suicide bomber to gain an entry ticket into some eternal 'paradise' or land of 'milk and honey.' We hue-mans are truly pathetic for so often seeking an "island" that mimics some of our wildest material world desires. The "islands" we seek after so passionately and outwardly are simply illusion gone astray in our self-deluded minds, without limits or safeguards. The eternal quest for the petty trinkets or rewards of material life prevents us from seeking after the inward reality of the SELF! The illusion of the world (Maya) or its chief architect (Satan) continues to delude us all no matter how hard we try to escape it. The 'unreal' or illusion is at the core of why humanity continues to suffer and is unable to reach the golden gates of wisdom. But, what is this wisdom so many speak of in scripture and even Hollywood films? The famous movie trilogy of the "Matrix" ended with a powerful chant/hymn from the 'Upanishads' or the great book of philosophy taught by sages throughout India and other lands. The simple phrases heard and sung during the movie credits were in part "Asato Ma Sadgamaya" (from the unreal, lead me to the real) and "Tamasoma Jyotir Gamaaya" (from ignorance, lead me to the light of knowledge). These two phrases tell us so clearly that the true "island" that must be sought is the one WITHIN! In the heart of a true spiritual seeker when illusion has been dissolved enlightenment takes place. The individual that ascribes to the path of a 'jnani' or self-knowledge seeker (self-realization) and transcends the phenomenal worldly life also dissolves illusion. It is the dissolution of maya or illusion that conveys wisdom to those that face the discipline of the "path." In the recent film the "Island" we encounter the world of illusion, which is shared in common by the "clones." We learn the "island" was the product of a hologram projection. When the image was shattered the clones were freed from the shackles in their own minds, but ironically in the movie they simply replace one realm or illusion for another -- the outside world. Tragically, this is also true for most of us, as a consequence of the various religions in the world that in their missionary zeal convert people from one illusion into accepting a new one. It is time for humanity to mature and face the difficult challenge of releasing all attachments and desires for the things of this world and equally what some profess to be the next world or hereafter. It is my deepest prayer that we all find the courage and strength in the days ahead to meet this important and sacred CHALLENGE! |

| Throughout the world most nations celebrate an "independence day." These independence day celebrations help citizens of nation states to recall that their country may have been under colonial rule, occupation or been ascribed to some subjugated status due to post-war negotiations or a United Nations mandate. Perhaps, the most famous "independence day" celebration is the "Fourth of July" in the USA. In fact, the idea of "independence" became the title and theme for a blockbuster movie a few years ago, called "Independence Day" starring Will Smith. However, many other nations have cause to celebrate their Independence. This week, the two Korean nations (North & South) for a brief moment in time united in commemoration of their Independence from under Japanese occupation. India is famous for the movement sparked by Mohandas Gandhi and Dr. Ambedkar to free that ancient land from British colonial rule. Of course, the entire African continent has experienced colonialism, and therefore, almost every month some nation there celebrates an Independence Day. So what is the purpose of me talking about independence in this week's message? First, take a look at the meaning of the word "independence." It literally means not to depend on anyone. But, is this really true for nation states? America sought to free itself from British rule and declared independence and even fought a revolutionary war to secure that independence. However, within ... . . . just a few years time the relationship between America and Britain improved and today George Bush and Tony Blair declare their solidarity in Iraq and other world trouble-spots. So can we truly become independent? Even despite the fact that North and South Korea are still technically at war, nevertheless, South Korea sends enormous amounts of food assistance to their supposed enemy. It is time for us to realize that we are always dependent on others -- WE ARE FAMILY! The notion of individual freedom or individualism and opposition to collectivism or social co-dependency has been the hallmark of capitalist development in the world. But, the cost have been great, especially on the human psyche. Hue-man beings are "wired" for collective bonds and mutual giving and sharing. However, increasingly the Darwinian concept of "survival of the fittest" and "dog eat dog" attitudes have made us increasingly less trusting and willing to be dependent on our friends, relatives or even significant others/partners in life. The "realist" approach to the field of International Relations or Foreign Policy has equally conditioned us to believe that 'dependency" is a weakness and only independent self-interest should be the normative value. These are all quite heavy ideas to contemplate. But, the reality is that until we understand the nature of dependency, independence and co-dependency we will fall short of understanding our true place in this world. We begin life with total dependency on our mother and father to raise us and to give us food, clothing, and shelter. But, our parents ultimately become dependent upon us in their old age. Therefore, we should see such relationships as co-dependency. Parents must learn to respect their children and afford them their 'rights' of self-determination while at the same time offering their support and wisdom. Children must give respect to their parents and at the same time teach them how to "let go" of their dependency maintained in the form of attachment to their children emotionally. Co-dependency recognizes the sovereignty of the individual while at the same time establishing the need for mutual sharing and giving. This co-dependency is an ecological principle that is represented in the entire fabric of life. In a spiritual sense we call this the "three constituents of nature" or three Gunas (Rajas, Tamas & Sattvas). It is the interplay of the three gunas and the individual (purusha) that best defines how co-dependency is the matrix of our universe. Consequently, parents must learn to avoid dominating their children or smothering them with possessive affection. The children must be encouraged to chart their own paths with the parents serving as coaches, advisors, guides and from time to time police officers. However, parents should never keep children in a perpetual state of dependency by imposing controls or preventing their children from acquiring degrees of independence (own money, own housing, etc.). I offered this message to readers this week because we are increasingly moving towards the extremes of independence or total domination and forgetting the middle ground of co-dependency. On a micro-level this is important to families. On a meso-level this important to communities. And, on a macro-level this all too important to nation states and the prospects for world peace. The Ikologiks: Nine Principles of Life speaks to these important concerns in a powerful way, so that we can avoid the tragedy of conflict based on selfish individualism or independence. The nine principles offer us a blue-print on how to establish co-dependency models that afford us all a life of bounty, fulfillment and harmony. The first step in arriving at this apex of hue-man transformation is to begin seeing ourselves as no longer dependent on our parents, nations, governments, religions or even gods. We must stop acting like pampered spoiled children and take up the mature responsibility of living in this world in co-dependency. The current path towards globalization is ever increasing our sense of dependency, which is often based on fears about terrorism or natural disasters. However, we must begin to chart a globalization that is not seeded in 'big structures' (WTO, IMF) that breed paternalistic totalitarianism, but instead on a global union that confirms our shared co-dependency and collective social capital. A theme, which is moderately echoed in the book 'Bowling Alone' by best-selling author Robert Putnam. In my own book 'Ultimate Mental Power' (page 328) I placed a photo of a man sitting alone on a quiet beach as the sun is setting. Under the picture is the caption, "No man is an island, no man stands alone!" which was quoted from a traditional folk song. The island is surrounded by ocean and the sun above, so therefore even an island does not STAND ALONE. We are all imaging ourselves as little islands and not realizing that we really not alone. Thus, when we see God as not 'outside' of us we can develop an attitude of not being 'dependent' on God for every little thing we need. But, instead to know that there is co-dependency even with God. To inner-stand that God is above, under, within and around us is to inner-stand that we ARE ONE IN THE SPIRIT, never alone! Copyright 2005 Baba Ur Deon-Solek, All Rights Reserved. |

| Throughout the years, I often will ask students who/what do you "believe" in? The answers are often direct and immediate in response. The majority of the students say things like, "I believe in God, or Allah, or Jesus, or Ptah, or the Orishas, or Shiva, or Krishna, or YHWH, or Buddha, or "Myself", or Capitalism, or Socialism, or Democracy, or Communism, or the Most High, or the Great Spirit, or my Nation, or my Race, or Religion, or Humanity, to highlight the most popular views. The same students often question me, "who/what do you believe in Adisaji?" They see me bless my food at a meal and often remark "are you Christian?" Sometimes they see me practicing or teaching Yoga so they query "do you believe in Hinduism, Adisaji?" On several occasions a student has observed me reading the Qu'ran, the Bible or the Mahabharata and automatically assume I favor those religions over shamanism, Taoism, or the Voodoo practices and Wicca. Alternatively, students of Ikologiks have often observed me talking about Marxism, Maoism, Nkrumahism, Gandhism, scientific socialism, Pan-Africanism, Democracy, and a host of other political ideologies all on the same breath. They wonder is Ikologiks about spirituality or about politics? They can never seem to grasp the unity of opposites and the deeper understanding of Neti-Neti (Not This, Not That). In Ikologiks meditation intensives (advances) students are guided to sing and do chants ranging from the Yoruba people, Native Americans (Indian), Vedic Ragas, Hebrew psalms, to the Sufi and Tibetan Buddhist chants, and many more. Okay, to those still wondering what do I believe. The answer is quite simple, I believe THAT ALL IS ONE, AND ONE IS ALL! However, beyond the idea of "belief" I urge students to be proactive in life. For example, one can say "I believe I will be rich" or "I believe I will attend Graduate school." But, those beliefs remain mere dreams until we ACT upon them and actualize what we believe in. These days, I find too many people willing simply to "believe" and follow things that they seldom truly understand. Religious cults and political cults abound in such an atmosphere. I remember the singer Stevie Wonder wrote a song called "Superstitious" and in the lyric he stated -- "and you believe in the things that you don't understand -- very superstitious." The Iko-Meditation Technique is a special process for helping us actualize our goals, visions, dreams and beliefs in a rational and disciplined fashion and not from fanatical beliefs, dogma or ideology. Such a system is not for the zealots or religious fanatics that "believe" they know it all, or have the absolute truth. I hope you take the time to learn and study Ikologiks -- and experience the all is ONE, and ONE is All, realization! Copyright 2005 Baba Ur Deon-Solek, All Rights Reserved. |

| Do not live merely to survive or exist! Live to Prosper & Transcend! Why waste this precious gift of life that you have been afforded only to celebrate in the sense pleasures of eating, vacationing, sexing or playing. To survive we require some food, drink, clothing and shelter. But, do we really need to "Super-Size" our lives? Do we really need to eat just for pleasing our tongue or should we eat primarily to maintain our body temple to be free of dis-ease? It is a hard daily choice to make, but gluttony is responsible for heart disease, hypertension, and numerous other health maladies. I don't mean being overweight in this context. Gluttony, can be an addiction of the slender and overweight alike -- it is the attitude about food that is at issue. We should learn to reduce the desire to stuff until we drop, shop until we drop! Do we need intoxicating drinks in order to enjoy ourselves or the time we spend with our friends and family? Shouldn't that nectar of joy come from within our own heart without turning to artificial stimulants or drugs? Must we really have closets filled with hundreds of shoes, blouses, shirts, pants or skirts? In fact, fashion has become in most countries more important than compassion. Some say,"clothes make a man." But, it is not what we wear outside that matters as much as what we wear inside in terms of our character, being honest, and being cloaked with inner wisdom. Some relish their mansions and homes with swimming pools, while most of humanity lives in mere shacks or crowded apartment buildings. We try to protect ourselves from nature with our shelters not realizing we must also shelter ourselves from the negative mental weather, or thoughts of others that surround us every day. But, even our mansions don't stand up to an earthquake or hurricane. I urge you not to just survive and exist like some animal. Instead, seek to Prosper with the gifts of wisdom and knowledge that will enable you to Transcend this material illusion and the delusional images of life it promotes. Prosperity is not making money and Transcendence is not just some spiritual gimmick. Learn the true value of these principles and live a righteous life! | These days, more than ever people are seeking spiritual comfort from the "sugar-coated" religious teachings, philosophies (Darshan), or spiritual practices (sadhana). Such religions, philosophies and spiritual practices often placate students with flowery words or rituals solely designed to enhance one's material condition or physical health. In fact, these teachings often suggest mere belief or prayer to some deity conveys "spiritual growth and liberation." This is really a great deception! When we were children our parents usually gave us sweets, candy, or some pastries as a way to soothe us, not realizing that sugar is also a depressant and causes hyperactivity. Soon we all became "sugar addicts" thinking a "Ben & Jerry's" ice cream pint or Dunkin' Donut cream puff would solve our problems, or ill feelings. Similarly, today we seek out spiritual teachers or teachings that make us "feel good" or advise us that we need not critically examine our own character flaws, imperfections, or misguided beliefs. Alternatively, some of these religious teachings and teachers weaken us with their emphasis on making us feel guilt or that we are sinners for not observing some rules supposedly declared by "God" in scriptures obviously written by mere men. Consequently, few of us if any are really committed or disciplined enough to face the challenges of embarking on the path to self-realization and transformation. I urge you to start from this day onward, to NOT seek the easy or "feel good" approaches to inner-standing or wisdom. Instead, satisfy yourself with the sustaining spiritual food and breath of life associated with sincere meditation practices and a teacher/teaching that confronts you with the"mirror" reflection of CHANGE, from within! | Still, after more than twenty years of lecturing, teaching, and initiating students on the 'path of Ikologiks' or the innerstanding of Ikologiks theory, I get questions about whether 'Ikologiks' is a religion or just a 'new age' invention of my ego? I thought I would address this issue in this week's offering. But, I realized that to do so adequately would take much more space than I am allowed here in this weekly column. Consequently, I will address this topic based upon a short personal and true story. . . In my first year attending Cornell University, I had the opportunity to purchase a used car from a South Bronx Puerto Rican couple named Raphael & Amelia. At that time, I was quite poor, on a full scholarship, and my mother had no way of helping me with the purchase. I couldn't even afford to take a driver's education course to get a learner's permit. If my memory serves me right, I got the car for about $400.00, which was still a lot of money back in those days (1970s) for a struggling college student. Since I didn't know how to drive I got a classmate to pick up the car in the Bronx and help me drive it back to Ithaca, NY. I literally began teaching myself to drive the car in the parking lot in front of the dormitory and in a few days I was driving around Ithaca (without a license -- oh boy, hope I don't get prosecuted under the Patriot Act, ha, ha, ha) with no problem. However, soon I did take a driver's test and got a license. The testing officer was shocked at my proficiency and ability to parallel park as if I had been driving for years. So what does this story have to do with helping someone understand what Ikologiks theory is or is not? Quite simple, Ikologiks is like driving a car with no prior "official" training. The 'Path of Ikologiks' is for the daring soul that wishes to charter their own spiritual development without the official sanctions (ordination, confirmation) of religious institutionalized structures. Thus, Ikologiks through the "9 Principles of Life" confers an inner-standing of the process of self-realization (driving the vehicle). Whereby, the student is essentially self-initiated as you are becoming the master of your own vehicle/car (body/mind/spirit). Of course, this must be in accord with the rules of the road (Dharma/MAAT). How is this accomplished? Quite similarly, to how I taught myself to drive that car back in my college days. Through continued practice, discipline, and self-confidence you will be able to drive confidently. Ah, the chief reason why most people turn to religions, gurus and others to guide their lives is because they lack self-confidence or self-esteem. Still others, have too much self-esteem (Ego) and become arrogant in believing they can do it on their own (MY WAY). Because, they fail to accept the help of a friend (like the classmate who drove the car to Ithaca for me) and to innerstand that the 'path' must be acquired through wisdom not just 'knowledge seeking' going from teaching to teaching, teacher to teacher, like a fruit fly or bumble-bee. In the initial stages of Ikologiks training students require a "friend or coach" (Iko-teacher) to drive the vehicle (guide their physical, mental & spiritual development) until they reach a safe place to practice on their own (parking lot) within the confines of an ashram/spiritual community. Unfortunately, over the years, the IAIAS, Inc. was unable to build a "safe Harbour" or ashram for our students to practice, grow and develop. Consequently, most students quickly lost their self-confidence, depended too heavily on "Adisaji" or just drove crazily with no real concern or respect for the 'rules of the road' (Dharma/MAAT). I feel deeply apologetic for those lost students, but I also realize that most of them wanted to "receive" yet not "give." By this I mean, I have experienced so many students over the years acting like vultures seeking carrion or mosquitoes sucking blood. But, when it came to supporting the IAIAS, Inc. with donations or even assisting with projects most fled for the hills. For over twenty years, I continue this teaching without receiving any personal salary or rewards. Why? Because, I don't seek the things of/in this world for my bliss -- I seek just the joy of being a servant to others and God. Yes, at times I have faltered, just like when I was learning to drive I hit the curb a few times. But, nowadays, I seldom forget for what purpose I came into this world and that this mission will succeed with support or no support, because the goal is not visible but an invisible one! In conclusion, I suggest that all serious students of Ikologiks begin to focus on the need to study the '9 Principles of Life' and spend time reading and re-reading the book "Ultimate Mental Power." Secondly, when working with "Adisaji" or another "Iko-Teacher" understand the balance of respect one must maintain for the teacher and at the same time not worship the teacher Again, Ikologiks is NOT A CULT, or based on 'FOLLOWING BLINDLY." But, the "Path of Ikologisk" does require students to trust the guidance they receive even when it is painful or does not make sense to them immediately. Often, students of Ikologiks are quick to become angry or defensive when their little egos are shattered with the Ikologiks mirror reflected to them by "Adisaji" or an "Iko-teacher." Perhaps, this is the most dangerous stage for the sadhu (spiritual seeker) and often leads Ikologiks students to abandon the path altogether. Others, arrogantly learn a little about Ikologiks and then try to challenge "Adisaji" using the same mirror applied that was appliedto them back on 'Adisaji'. To do so, is a very grave error and undoubtedly will deepen that student's sense of confusion and suffering. However, there is an old saying, "if you can't take the heat, get out the kitchen." Students who find themselves unable to still understand Ikologiks and to see how it is vastly different than the forms of religious instruction and initiation they are accustomed to should either seek that religious tradition or bite their ego and listen. Although, Ikologiks uses many so-called Sanskrit words, and talks about Yoga & Meditation, or the Mdu Ntr (Egyptian Nile Valley School) some students make the false assumption to compare Ikologiks to classical Hindusim, Vedanta, Santana Dharma, Samakhya, Mdu Ntr, Mystery Schools, or New Age Philosophies. This is a tragic miscalculation! Yes, Ikologiks embraces ALL religious traditions but at the same time rejects them. Why? A topic for another lesson, but briefly the concept of "neti-neti" helps explains this demarcation. So let me be very clear -- Ikologiks is not affixed to Islam, Christainity, Buddhism, Hinduism or any other world religion. Neither is it just some "new age" ego produced philosophy. Ikologiks is the actual conveyance of the "keys" (Ankh) to the vehicle that you are learning to drive and offers the assistance for enabling you to become a self-confident and skilled driver on the road of life. The "9 Principles of Life" act as a 'road map' and repair kit for the vehicle you drive. One last thought, please don't drink and drive (addictions to worldly material life) and watch out for all the road hazards (friends, family and others that con you into joining them in the world of illusion/delusion or stifle your growth)! Remember, to drive safely! Copyright 2005 Baba Ur Deon-Solek, All Rights Reserved. |

| This time of year is very special in the temperate climate zones of the planet. Because, all of nature is beginning to prepare for the long winter months that lay ahead. The days are gradually getting shorter and the temperature is dropping. This is the period when many cultures celebrate harvest festivals. And, the trees create a spectacular fireworks display of colors before their leaves slowly begin to cascade away. If you are like me, I really enjoy taking a nice stroll through the forest or on a mountain side and let the rustling leaves caress my feet. Just think, nature grants us so much beauty to delight our senses and heart. Yet, many of us will still prefer to stay in the artificial environ of a shopping mall. I believe nature is beginning to attune herself to a new vibration and a new harmonic to reseed this planet on a DNA/RNA level. On this website we have a page (under construction) called the 'Harvest of MAAT'. The term 'Maat' is from the Kemetic or ancient Egyptian Nile Valley civilization and it celebrates the principles of truth, justice and reciprocity as guiding hallmarks in establishing our spiritual and mental development. The 'goddess Maat' is a wingspread deity that appears in so many other religious traditions as an "angel" or bearer of the Divine justice inherent in the sovereign nature of our universe. I believe the 'harvest' of humanity is soon awaiting us. The days ahead are bringing forth a great cleansing and transformation on this planet. We can already attest and begin to see this process with the alarming increase in earthquake, volcano, hurricane activity and rapid decline of the permafrost or arctic ice shelf. It is important to prepare yourselves spiritual and emotionally for the season of harvest and coming winter. This is a time to dedicate yourself to daily meditation and 'acts of kindness' to others less fortunate than you. Moreover, this is a time to let go of all that you have accumulated materially throughout the years. In a flash, we witnessed the people in the New Orleans region lose all their possessions. So what did they have left? Only their body, mind & spirit! These are the most important things you should cherish and safeguard in the days ahead. You must prepare your body to endure the hardships and plagues that are certainly coming by fasting regularly. You must elevate your mind to the level of ultimate mental power to deal emotionally with all that you will face by studying scriptures. Lastly, get your spiritual house in order! Purify the nerve channels (720,000 nadis) by chanting the IKOLOGIKS Mantra/Hekau on a daily basis for at least 90 minutes. Lest you forget, 'World Without End, AMEN!"

| Hue-man Beings are born into this world with innocence and honesty. The infant in the arms of the mother or father knows nothing of deceit, dishonesty, cheating or being a liar. These are all traits in the hue-man personality and behavior that develop later in our early childhood. Do you remember your first attempt to deceive your parents? Remember the infamous "hands caught in the cookie jar" lesson? A child learns quickly that in order to avoid a spanking or rebuke from the parents it must lie or deceive them. However, once this character trait is sparked in the child it becomes like a torrent of deception in all our daily associations. Lying becomes so common place that we find ourselves deceiving the ones we supposedly love the most. Including wives, husbands and best friends! A "lie" is the most disturbing and hurtful act one can commit against another, because the victim loses their own innocence and ability to trust. Just a few years ago, President Bill Clinton lied to his wife and to America saying about Monica Lewinski, "I never had relations with that woman." Later, President George Bush would lie to the world about WMD (weapons of mass destruction) in order to settle his personal score with Saddam Hussein, after Saddam had attempted to have Bush's father assassinated some years ago. In most religious teachings the greatest liar or deceiver of all is called Satan, the Devil, Ibis, or a host of other names. In other traditions, this trait is assigned to the malevolent side of "God" or the notion of a "trickster" as we find in Krishna, Elegaba, Ganapati, etc. I urge you from the bottom of my heart to restrain from lying to others. Especially, those you claim to love. Sometimes the truth hurts, but a lie can be even more damaging when it is discovered. Decide to live from this day forward in Light, Peace, Truth & Love and the world will be a much better place! Copyright 2005 Baba Ur Deon-Solek, All Rights Reserved. |

| The powerful storm "Katrina" seemed to appear almost out of nowhere last week. Yet, it was just another omen reflecting the dramatic increase in hurricanes, typhoons, or cyclones and the unprecedented earthquakes, tsunamis, and solar flares that have been sweeping across our planet this year. The tragedy in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, however, strikes of the kind of devastation that is often left to Hollywood megabox movies like the global warming disaster film 'Day After Tomorrow.' The name 'Katrina' has Greek and Anglo-Saxon origins (Katherine, Catherine) and most agree the word means 'pure' or 'purification.' Ironically, increasing numbers of people now believe the Great Earth Mother is undergoing a purification at this time in history. The ancient Mayan (Olmec) culture believed that the year 2012 AD would mark the culmination of this great purification cycle and consequently they chose to end their calendar in that year. The year 2012 AD coincides with our central Sun's precession and alignment with the galactic center of the Milky-Way. No doubt, ancient cultures from the Mayan, to Hopi, Dogon and Egyptians all have talked of the coming purification. This includes the Biblical scriptures, Vedic writings and the Quran that equally attest to some great planetary change. It deeply saddens me that humanity will undergo so much suffering in this time period. But, it is even sadder to see the lack of sensitivity witnessed this week in the non-actions of the Bush administration in assisting the poor and largely African-American population that suffered more than others in this horrific disaster. . . This indifference was so dramatically exhibited in the events that took place at the "Super-Dome" stadium in New Orleans. Perhaps, the most disturbing aspect of that turmoil in New Orleans was that those who could least afford to escape the storm were subjected to two hellish experiences. First, the storm itself, and then, the aftermath in the Super-Dome. It was even more disgusting that when the buses finally arrived to remove those held up in the stench and despair of the Dome that those a block away in the Hyatt Hotel were given first rights to the buses. The National Guard troops assisted those hotel guests with their "designer luggage" onto buses while those who had suffered days in filth and over 90 degree heat were told to wait again. It seemed that the most glaring contradictions of America on class and race were revealed to the world this fateful week. These events were quite sobering to a world that has gone drunk with the passions, luxuries, and crass-materialism of American values and pop-culture. Equally, there are those around the world that understand that should America collapse into anarchy that their own vital interest will also be at stake. The interdependency of the world due to globalization is not to be ignored and many got nervous. Before the end of this week, we will witness another anniversary of the 911 attacks on US interests. Arrogance, patriotism and pride should never be the measure of a great nation and people. Instead, humbleness, selfless service and peace should be the hallmark of a great people and civilization. This week I chose to break away from the usual format of this column. I decided to make more of a commentary than an actual "teaching/lesson." But, I think this message can still bring inner-standing to many readers. In the days ahead, more tragedies will unfortunately and most certainly befall our fragile Earth and ecosystem. Some will cry out, "end of the world" and others will shout "we're fired up and ain't gonna take it no more." In the final analysis, we are still acting like little spoiled children not yet learning the important lessons that we were afforded life on this planet to fulfill. We still somehow think that life is simply for satisfying our gluttonous desires, obtaining material comforts and getting more power over others and the resources of the sacred Earth Mother. I believe that the wise at this time will seek counsel from within and aspire to reach the pinnacle and zenith of human potential and transformation. Please, I urge you to chose that path before it is too late! Copyright 2005 Baba Ur Deon-Solek, All Rights Reserved. |

| The ‘information age’ has given countless millions the opportunity to explore knowledge as never before humanly possible in modern history. The access we have to the internet and other mediums of communication or knowledge is unprecedented in this generation. Yet, we have not risen above knowledge seeking to wisdom seeking. We don’t seem to realize that simple to acquire knowledge without the wisdom or fortitude to use it can only lead to a path of self-destruction. The ancient civilizations have fell victim to this curse, whether it was the fall of Atlantis, the collapse of the Mayan, Aztec and Incan or the fall of the former Soviet Union, all equally shared in the folly of knowledge without wisdom. It seems most everyone today has knowledge of a wide range of subjects even at the elementary school level. In fact, children often know more than their parents about scientific discoveries, the nature of the universe, global warming or even world conflicts. But, with all this access to knowledge and information it still seems that the level of higher consciousness is relatively stagnant. Moreover, our political, economic and social institutions continue to operate from archaic and bureaucratic styles with an affixation to dogma, ideology and traditional mores that seldom open them selves to change. Today we need to move from an ‘information age’ to a ‘transformation age’ and we need to raise the bar on human potential. The call for applied transformation technology is at the heart of the mission for the forthcoming Ikologiks Center for Global Studies. It is time for humanity to move ‘outside the box’ and transcend the limits of our inherent fixation with things familiar to us, tradition, cultural value and the associated dogma. The age we are now living in commands that we begin to scrap the old programming that locks our mental domain with the precepts of religiosity and cultural habit. Instead, we must re-tool our consciousness to become freed from the binds of those that seek to control and coerce humanity into submission to their will as opposed to Divine Will. So what is the Divine Will? It is the WILL that each of us individually and collectively experience when we transform, transcend and transfigure our present state of consciousness and self-awareness. We can no longer allow the clergy, soothsayers, shamans, psychics, gurus, politicians or scientist to define our reality, or manipulate us into passive servitude to creeds, rituals and dogma – we MUST DISCOVER OUR OWN INNER & OUTER REALITY, by the awakening of our own connectors to higher consciousness. My friends, comrades, students, and seekers it is certainly time to prepare your self for a different reality than we now possess and share. It is not difficult. The only hindrance to our ascension lies in our own self-doubt, negative programming and acceptance of the matrix of material domination on this planet. I am speaking now to the hearts and souls of those who have ears, and will listen, those who have eyes and will see, and most importantly those who have brains and WILL THINK! I remember back in the late 1970s when Ikologiks (Ecologics) was in its infancy I used to quote a line from George Clinton’s (Funk, R&B recording artist) LP, which said simply, “Think, It Ain’t Illegal Yet!” Nowadays, the ability for most of us to think “outside the box” has increasingly been thwarted by the digitalized, compact disc world we worship and the computers we increasingly become slaves too in our day to day occupations and lifestyles. It is time for us all to understand that “thought” comes from consciousness and actions emerge from thought. So whatever a man or woman thinks, so shall they witness, which is as ancient a proverb as the ‘golden rule.’ Consequently, when we submit to the DIVINE WILL, within the plain of cosmic consciousness we can derive “thought-forms” or “thinking” that leads to actions that are beneficial to ourselves and the planet as a whole. Therefore, it is our sacred duty and the task that now lies before us in the years prior to ascension and transition to bring forth action from the higher state of consciousness. I urge you not to wait another second, minute, hour, day or year before taking up the path or personal journey to self-transformation so that you too can be a vehicle for the great change we are experiencing in this era. |
| My dear students, teachers and seekers, today we are living in a world that is built upon an unstable or weak foundation. The core basis of our civilization is based on a lie! Therefore, the topic of the dialogue this week is somewhat more controversial than some of my prior ‘lessons.’ To those wishing to understand why the work of the AUM-IAIAS, Inc. is so important I hope you will take time to read this special ‘teaching’ in contemplative solace. The theme of the discussion this week is about great deception or lie that is permeating all aspects of our global society. I believe the very essence of what we experience, believe in and the values we accept must be reevaluated if we are to heal the planet and stop the horrors of war, mutual- conflict and environmental pollution from destroying this civilization. Over the past thousand years (1000 – 2000 AD) of our planetary history, with the ascension of European and ultimately the American hegemony in the world, humanity has been dealing with a false intellectual, philosophical, and spiritual-religious paradigm. What are these false premises and the paradigm that has shaped human consciousness for the past thousand years of the modern era. It is specifically the polarization paradigm of “EAST” and “WEST!” The dichotomization of global human processes in the spheres of economics, politics, education, religion and science into the convenient dualism of the ‘east and west’ paradigm is fundamentally flawed. Why? It is because the current paradigm of ‘east and west’ essentially ignores and disavows that there was a pre-existing “CENTRAL” paradigm. The ‘central’ paradigm was rooted in a human cultural value and philosophy that pre-dates the European ascendancy in the world and our modern-day conceptualizations in pedagogy, ontology and epistemology. The AUM-IAIAS, Inc. over the past decade has been introducing the term ‘Central Philosophy’ as a method to help our students understand that the current polar idea of ‘east and west’ is flawed. Moreover, this viral in the software of our human consciousness has been responsible for artificially dividing humanity and thereby creating unnecessary conflict and contentiousness. The idea behind introducing the term ‘Central Philosophy’ is to reunite the ‘east vs. west’ paradigm through the nexus of the ancient original core cosmogony, cosmology and ecological principles, which actually gave birth to both the east and west schools of philosophy. Indeed, the artificial division of ‘east and west’ causes needless strife among peoples and nations, which has been responsible for the deaths of millions. The popular notion of ‘east vs. west’ or “us and them” paradigm has even been fabricated and retooled to justify the so called “Clash of Civilizations” (The model, which was suggested by renowned Harvard Professor Samuel Huntington in his book by the same title.) for an often illusionary ‘war on terrorism’ or what some claim as the battle between the Christian ‘west’ and the Islamic ‘east.’ However, what is immediately false about such a paradigm is that both Christianity and Islam have nothing to do with Europe, ‘western civilization’ or the USA in their origins! The Torah, Talmud, Holy Bible and Holy Koran are all scriptures and religious paths that developed out of a hybrid North African, Semitic and Arab cultures or peoples of the region of North Africa (including, the Middle East) historically. Moreover, each of these faiths (now worldwide) was rooted in the original wisdom teachings, rituals, spiritual practices cosmogony and cosmology of the ancient Nile Valley Civilizations (namely, Egypt, Nubia, Cush, Sumner, Elam, Libya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, etc.) that pre-dated European, Asian and the classical civilizations of the Americas by over three thousand years. Europeans and other ‘Westerners’, prior to their adoption, hijacking and seduction of the indigenous religions and culture of North Africa were celebrating a ‘pagan’ tradition rooted in the Celtic, Viking and other Nordic peoples of Europe. The so called ‘European classical civilizations’ of Greece (Hellenism) and Rome were never really a part of Northern Europe as historians often attempt to persuade us to believe in Universities throughout the world. The Greeks actually borrowed and plagiarized most of their wisdom teachings (Plato, Aristotle, Democritus, Socrates, etc.) from the Egyptians, Sumerians, Persians and other people of North Africa and the Middle East via trade, war and conquest. So why is this all so important? I am not presenting this material to marginalize Europeans, Asians or other peoples. Instead, we must abandon all this “who invented the wheel first thinking” and realize that humanity emerged from a central genetic core (based on mitochondrial DNA) that links all humanity and equally means that all knowledge and wisdom comes from a central core. I must speak to you on this topic, because the modern hegemony of Europe and the USA rests squarely on the notion of the superiority of ‘western culture or civilization’ that is enshrined in the ideology of ‘global white supremacy.’ The entire world now bows to the notion that things ‘western’ are superior to other cultures, be it fashion, music (classical, rock) or the economic system that dominates the planet – capitalism. However, in ever increasing conflict with the western notion of their superiority is the eastern tradition(s) that fly in the face of such an assertion. It can not be ignored that the Korean, Chinese, Mongolian, Japanese, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Thai, and of course India and Nepal people all share in a rich and vibrant cultural history that was vastly superior to that of the Europeans prior to the emergence of the Industrial Age. Moreover, the classical core African civilizations that laid a foundation for all subsequent cultures on this planet outshone even our modern technological society. The most important factors that led to European domination and USA hegemony in the world came from the barrel of the ‘gun diplomacy’ and the African slave trade. The European period of exploration led to an imperialism that colonized the non-European world (Asia, Africa, Americas, Australia, New Zealand, Micronesia, Polynesia, Caribbean, etc.) under British, French, German Spanish, Portuguese, Belgium, Austrian, or Dutch ruler-ship under the power of the gun. In addition, the economic ascendancy of world finance capitalism is forever indebted to the African slave trade, which empowered the USA in particular to become the world economic and military superpower it is to this very day. Dear students, friends and seekers, the AUM-IAIAS, Inc. is offering a paradigm shift into higher consciousness through the ‘Nine Principles of Life’ and working methodology through the tenets of Central Philosophy. The goal of this paradigm shift is to reunite humanity and to give respectability to the contributions of all cultures and people, races, nations on this planet. What is the reason for Central Philosophy at this time in history? Well, consider for a moment if we were only functioning as a human being with only our right arm and leg? What would happen if we only had people with a right arm and leg or just a left arm and leg? We obviously would not consider them whole human beings or even capable of functioning properly. Not only do we require two legs (left and right) to walk and two arms (left and right) to carry things, or for balance, but equally we need the center frame of our body (head, chest, genitalia) to be considered a fully functional human being. Likewise, how can a world consciousness be based only on a left foot and leg (west) or right foot and leg (east) with no supporting mid-section? Consequently, the world is unable to walk in peace, light, and love without the fullness of the balance of the left and right sides of their body and the centerpiece that binds them together as ONE! This is exactly the reason why Central Philosophy was introduced and why it must now replace the present East/West paradigm. To accomplish this task will require a major paradigm shift in human consciousness. But, our failure to make such a quantitative and qualitative shift will only prolong our global pain and suffering. We will continue to endure the ravages of war, mutual conflicts and the sense of alienation that are spawned from the present dualism and contentiousness fostered within the east vs. west paradigm. In a few years the AUM-IAIAS, Inc. hopes to open the first educational institution to teach Central Philosophy as a primary integrated system of knowledge in the world – with the creation of the Ikologiks Center for Global Studies. It is hoped that a new generation of leaders will be born out of this educational center that will help transform the world with enlightened global consciousness that does not continue to uphold the paradigm of global dominance envisioned in the current EAST vs. WEST paradigm. We hope to erect an ‘advanced’ consciousness and paradigm shift that will reawaken humanity to our core ONENESS in SPIRIT and the need to foster unity among the family of races, nations, the sexes. We must eradicate the divisions that are preventing an enlightened globalization from taking place. Let me be very clear at this point -- a globalization based on economics (whether capitalism or socialism) is doomed to failure. Equally, a globalization based on religious fundamentalism or intolerance for others will only destroy the planet. We must create a globalization that honors diversity and respects the freedom of the individual. We must struggle to define a globalization, which simultaneously fosters the collective or group value, while maintaining the sovereignty and sanctity of independent thought and conscious. Finally, we must ensure a global future that respects the environment, nature and determines that LOVE and SERVICE to your fellow hue-(wo) man being is the greatest thing that we should achieve in a global community as global citizens. The hallmark of this enlightened global future is not resting in the WTO, IMF, World Bank, G-8, or even the UN. But, it must be realized only when each and every hue-(wo) man can achieve their highest potential and fulfillment through the elevation of consciousness. In short, the economy must serve the people and not the people serving the economy! The days of chattel slavery, wage slavery, or sharecropping must end! I hope you join in this victory advance by taking a first step in joining the International Academy of Ikologiks & Advanced Studies, Inc. today. |
