"Until the philosophy which holds one race superior to
another is finally, permanently and utterly destroyed ...
there will be war, me say war, rumors of war. War in the
east, war up north, war down south, WAR, rumors of war..."

Our Responsibility to Engage in Conscious Acts
of Peace, Love & Service to Others!
-by Adisaji Maina Omar-
The path of globalization is not new to this era of history as Nayan Chanda
(Director of Publications at the Yale Center for the Study of
Globalization) has stated in his book on the history of globalization entitled
"Bound Together". Chanda correctly identifies that what is different about the
current phase and developing expressions of globalization is the consumerism
of the middle class (mass society). However, what Chanda does not fully
acknowledge in his book, or explores more deeply is to clearly identify the
tragic consequences of a world based in corporatism, conspicuous consumption
and the glorification of materialism and technology.

Sadly, it is my own belief that the present push towards globalization, a 'new
world order' as such, or a one world government, is leading humanity down a
path of mindless slavery devoid of love, compassion and service to others. Thus,
today in the face of, or the push towards a globalization rooted in corporatism,
consumerism, materialism and technocratic glorification we must remind
humanity of the need and responsibility to seek consciously peace, harmony,
love and compassionate service to those who lack the ability to compete in such
    a globalized system.

The Ikologiks Center for Global Studies seeks to bring students from around the
world together in a "think tank" atmosphere to wrestle with some of these
basic enigmatic questions. Furthermore, the I.C.G.S. has established the
"Global Action Network" as a means to support the work of NGOs and civic
groups around the globe in conducting their various projects, or filling their
needs and ability to have some impact on the current corporatist models on
globalization. The corporations are "actors" with no emotions, feelings or
moral authority since they operate as if they are living entities, but lack the
implicit compassion and moral authority that is the hallmark of humanity.

We have a real responsibility as "global citizens" to face the unique  challenges
of the future head-on whether it is global warming, terrorism, poverty, racism,
political oppression, economic exploitation with a passion equal to that of the
corporations zeal for profits and meeting the "bottom line." To do less is to
sacrifice what little remains of our independent authority to define reality
beyond the hyped media messages and advertising or the sports and
entertainment saturation that entrances the youth in mindless gaming activities
and approaching life with only the goal of satisfying their insatiable sensory
    pleasure addictions.

My friends, we truly can no longer "sit on the fence" and watch the world go
by and the great changes amassing before us silently. We must move from
"blogging" to transformation, we must move from protesting or demonstrating
to creating concrete alternatives to the current models. This is one reason why
the I.C.G.S. desperately is trying to maintain autonomy from the tentacles of
corporatism that seek to control thought through the media, charitable
foundations and granting institutions. This is why our NGO - Ikologiks
Foundation does not solicit such corporate or foundation support. We clearly
realize that the academic institutions, religious institutions of today have
become mere prostitutes in their ravenous hunger for funding and grants to
perpetuate only the things that maintain the status quo and never challenge the
matrix of global governance being orchestrated under the auspices of the UN,
nation states and their corporate sponors that are collectively held captive by
the international banking system (World Bank, IMF).

I urge those that canvass our website to become a "global partner" with us and
join the growing number of students at the I.C.G.S. that seek higher education
that is seeks "higher" transformational goals in the human being to become
embodiments of LOVE, COMPASSION & SERVICE to others in the world.
